On September 2015, at the UN Sustainable Development Summit, many countries adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in order to initiate development that meets the needs of the present by ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity while simultaneously ensuring that the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs is not compromised. These goals were made with the ultimate purpose of initiating action plans in order to create a sustainable future.
Understanding it’s importance, in addition to the previously held SDG workshop by the United Nations Club of Visakha Vidyalaya, they wish to expand this idea by venturing into a project of a new dimension to promote SDGs among the youth and also to help the youth understand the fact that they too, can make a change. The project launch will also be at this event.
Furthermore, the project “Youth for Sustainable Development” consists of a workshop which will be conducted by the senior members of the United Nations Club of Visakha Vidyalaya. It will be conducted on the 23rd of February 2017 from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Visakha Vidyalaya Main Hall. Dress Code is School Uniform.
Both National and International schools will be invited to ensure that the programme is beneficial to a wide group of students and also to ensure that students are aware of the SDGs and are actively working to achieve them. This workshop will indeed be a memorable and an invaluable learning experience.
